Central Vacuum FAQ:
Q: What are the advantages of an Aerus unit?
A: Compared to other brands, the Aerus CentraLux provides more suction at less cost. CentraLux has 138" water suction -- enough to pull water up a straw that is 11-1/2 feet tall! Other unique features include a washable foam filter and 11-gallon aluminum dust bin.
Q: What are the advantages of the Aerus accessories?
A: Unlike other brands, the brushes on our accessories are powered by their own electric motors and not dependent on the vacuum's air flow. It provides a more powerful and more durable cleaning action for carpets and upholstery. Besides the power nozzle, the kits include a 35' durable hose, a dusting brush for baseboards and surfaces, a crevice tool for tight spaces, and a SideKick -- a smaller power nozzle for upholstery and stairs.
Q: Can we install a central vacuum system in an existing homes?
A: In most houses, yes, we can! There are some limitations, however. We usually install inlets within 6 feet of an existing electrical receptacle to use the power attachments (power nozzle and side kick for carpets and upholstery). It is difficult and not always possible to put inlets in walls, so floor mounted inlets are a good option.
Q: What is the cost of installation?
A: Generally, in addition to the cost of the unit, accessory kits and service call fees, the cost of installation in new construction is $200-250 per inlet. To replace an existing unit, installation is typically about $150 in labor. These figures are for planning purposes only and vary depending on several factors. We are happy to give you an estimate on your particular project.
Q: Are Aerus central vacuums compatible with other systems?
A: YES! Inlets and piping are standard-sized so that our units and accessories work with most existing systems. When replacing units of other brands, mounting brackets and simple pipe arrangements are necessary, but can be done in a couple of hours. Some brands have proprietary face plates, however, that are not interchangeable.
